First Ireland is the Internet division of our family owned business, which has been established for over 40 years. We are based in Portstewart on the North Coast of Ireland, close to the Giants Causeway, one of the World's natural wonders.

As a family business it has always been our policy to keep prices low and our level of customer service high. We believe that this personal approach to business attracts loyalty and trust from our customers. If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

First Ireland sell only brand new goods of perfect quality direct from the relevant manufacturers, we do not sell second quality, reject or second-hand goods. Unfortunately First Ireland cannot give valuations of goods, but will put you in touch with the manufacturer wherever possible. All products should be used in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

We use the most up-to-date technology possible to display images of the products shown on the First Ireland website. However, because the colours you see will depend on your monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of any colour will be accurate. If you would like advice before you purchase, on this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to ensure that you have all the information you need.

All of our prices are free of any European taxes for shipments outside the European Union, however some countries may impose import duty, which is out of our control. In our experience US Customs, for example, has an import duty of around 6% when they charge, but quite often you may not be charged at all. For further information we recommend that you contact your local authorities.

In the event that a product or service is listed at an incorrect price due to supplier pricing information or typographical error, we at First Ireland will have the right to refuse or cancel orders placed for the product listed at the incorrect price, regardless of whether the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, First Ireland will promptly issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the incorrect price.

Our prices can be displayed in various currencies on the site. Choose the currency in which you wish to view our very reasonable prices by clicking on the link above the Summary Shopping Basket on every page.

Our payment system uses Sterling for all credit card transactions. For your benefit we use the current exchange rate to calculate and display prices in your currency if you wish, this is for your information only as we cannot guarantee that rates will be the same on the day you are charged. All orders will only be charged on the day of dispatch.

Your credit card company will convert our sterling charge into your home currency on your credit card statement. This should be very close to the amount displayed on our site, unless there has been a huge fluctuation on the exchange markets. We update our exchange rates several times per day to avoid too much difference. First Ireland hope that you will understand that refunds will not be given to counteract changes in exchange rates.

We will charge the quoted price in sterling. You will then be charged by your credit card company, in your own currency, at the exchange rate that they apply on the day.

Shortly after you place your order we will send you an order confirmation, which will contain details of your order, shipping charges, delivery address and any gift message. We will also give you an estimated delivery time of any goods which are temporarily out of stock.

Christmas & Thanksgiving Orders

Christmas and Thanksgiving are very busy times of the year. We would therefore appreciate your co-operation in placing your orders in advance to ensure that your purchases arrive in good time. Please use the following guidelines for delivery:

Thanksgiving - please order before October 1st
Christmas - please order before November 14th
Any orders placed after these dates cannot be guaranteed, although we will try our best to ensure delivery when possible.

The receipt by you of an order confirmation does not constitute acceptance of an order. Prior to First Ireland's acceptance of an order, verification of information may be required. We reserve the right at any time after receipt of your order to accept or decline your order, or any portion of it for any reason - even after your receipt of an order confirmation from First Ireland. We also reserve the right to limit the order quantity on any item and to refuse service to any customer without prior notification.

First Ireland uses industry standard SSL technology to encrypt all your personal details while they are being transmitted. You can verify our certificate by clicking on the padlock shown in the bottom right of your browser window while you are in a secure section of the site (for example the checkout process).

Payment options:
We accept the following Credit/Debit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Switch. Alternatively we accept cheques drawn on a U.K. bank, International Money Orders or Banker's cheques. Full payment is required prior to dispatch of the order.

Our warehouse staff are highly trained to ensure that customers can be confident in the safe delivery of even the most fragile items. In the unlikely event of loss or damage in transit our shipping and insurance charge will cover the cost of free replacements. All breakages and defects must be notified to us within 3 days of receipt of delivery via email to comply with our insurance policy. Shipping times are usually 5-7 working days (within 2 weeks) for items that are in stock. Customers have the right to cancel an order at any time prior to shipment or to return the goods to us, unused and in the original packaging, within 30 days of receipt for a full refund (minus shipping and handling charges).

Gift messages

Firstireland.com offers a gift message service for your convenience. We ask that you use this service responsibly and that you do not use obscene, profane or threatening language in a gift message.

We may, but are not obliged to, restrict or remove any and all content from a gift message that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these guidelines or is otherwise harmful to us or any third party.

It is very important to us that we preserve the strong relationship of trust which we have with our customers. Whenever you provide personal information we will treat it with respect. The following sections detail the information we gather from you and how we use it.

We will treat all your personal information as confidential (although we reserve the right to disclose this information in certain circumstances - detailed in 'Use of personal information'). We will keep it on a secure server and we will fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation.

When you shop with First Ireland, we will collect personal information from you (such as your name, e-mail address, billing address, delivery address, telephone number, product selections, credit card or other payment information and a password). We may also collect information about where you are on the internet (for example the URL you came from, IP address and domain types), your browser type, the country and telephone area code where your computer is located, the pages of our website that were viewed during your visit, the advertisements you clicked on, and any search terms that you entered on our website. First Ireland may collect this information even if you do not register with us.
